Relocating a chocolate production facility isn't a straightforward crating job. The equipment is sensitive, the production environment has food-safety implications, and the crates needed to protect everything during transport, storage and shipping to new location.
COCOCO Chocolatiers needed to dismantle their production lines, crate everything for interim storage, and then move it again when the new facility was ready. That meant every crate had to be built to protect equipment through multiple handling cycles, not just a single transit. It also meant the crating work itself had to be done in a way that didn't introduce dust or contamination risk near food production equipment.
Equipment assessment and crate design
Before any crates were built, CCC assessed each piece of production equipment individually to determine what crate style and construction would be needed to protect it through storage and relocation. Equipment that will be handled multiple times needs a different spec than a one-way export crate, and getting that wrong risks damage during the storage phase, not just transit.
Off-site crate fabrication
All crates and skids were built at CCC's facility rather than on-site at the chocolate plant. This kept sawdust, wood debris, and construction activity away from the food production environment — a practical decision that mattered for the client's hygiene standards and for protecting the equipment itself during packaging.
Protective wrapping and cleanliness
Every piece of equipment was wrapped in clear poly before crating, so it arrived at the new facility clean and ready for reassembly.
Labelling and inventory documentation
Each crate was individually labelled, and a full inventory list was provided to the client. For a multi-phase move involving storage, this matters: when it's time to move into the new facility, the client knows exactly what's in each crate and where it is, without having to open everything to find out.
Logistics coordination
CCC arranged and covered the cost of all forklift rentals, rigging extensions, and trucking required for the move this allowed COCOCO's team to focus on the rest of the facility transition rather than sourcing equipment and coordinating logistics.
